Street Connect’s Aftercare programme supports individuals in recovery (most of whom have achieved stability and are now substance-free) by providing a structured pathway towards independent living, stable employment, and lasting reintegration into the community.
This often involves practical job/life skills training through grassroots projects – e.g. joinery and landscaping via our Community Garden – and work experience with partner businesses; empowering participants to rebuild their lives for a future beyond addiction.
CABWI’s support enables the project to offer several participants the opportunity to undertake Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQs) at Levels 2 and 3 in Health & Social Care and Community Development. This includes supervised internships/placements where participants can shadow Project Workers and learn how to conduct outreach and support work.
These qualifications not only help to build confidence and self-esteem but also open doors to future opportunities in the social care sector (e.g. supporting vulnerable adults), project management, community outreach, etc.
