Making It Out works with individuals moving on from prison, homelessness, addiction or a mental health crisis. They provide opportunities to learn and develop skills in a broad range of design and manufacturing disciplines including metalwork, carpentry and construction. Their workshop space provides opportunities for people to develop a routine, acquire skills and plan for a positive future whilst receiving wrap around holistic support.
CABWI’s grant will part fund one of Making It Out's ex-participant staff wages for a year. During this time, they intend to expand its provision to start delivering level 1 construction and carpentry qualifications. Alongside this they will be restoring a 17th Century barn, and they intend to expand on these qualifications to include heritage carpentry.
Making It Out believe that staff participants who have lived experience of prison, homelessness, addiction or poor mental health are best placed to support and enable new participants to recover and rehabilitate.
